1000 Hills Challenge 2021

Nagle Dam is set in the rural but spectacular Valley of 1000 Hills. The contrasting “hills”, red cliff faces, sparkling dam and dense bushveld just beg to be explored on foot, the only way to traverse this area!

Runners on the longer courses will circumnavigate the entire dam as well as explore the riverine sections above the dam (not to mention the adventurous river crossing!) and challenging climbs (the hills do more than undulate here…!). The short course cuts through the middle of the dam using an exciting tunnel and runs around the bottom half of the dam. Expect to see wildlife such as zebra, giraffe and impala in the Msinsi Reserve, and impressive Nguni cattle in the surrounding areas.

This event is a firm favorite among the trail community for good reason – promising a unique perspective of KZN that only those willing to explore on foot will rarely get to see, as well as a vibey race village with customary delicious food & drinks, massage therapists, trail gear and more!

Water Tables: Approximately every 10km, bring your own cups.

Entry includes runners’ entry into Msinsi Nagle Dam and a unique KZNTR finishers’ badge.

Walkers welcome on the 5km & 10km course!

Compulsory Equipment: 38km and 20km participants must carry 2L of hydration and a cell phone. A base (warm) layer and water proof jacket are highly recommended.
